Albert L. Towne of Mason City, Iowa, enlisted 22 August 1862 as a Second Corporal and served in Company B of the 32nd Iowa Volunteers. He was later promoted to full corporal, 3rd sergeant, and finally 2nd sergeant. He was discharged on 24 August 1865 at Clinton, Iowa.
